South Africa had 8,319 new Covid-19 coronavirus cases, according to health minister Zweli Mhkize.
There have been a total of 22,952 deaths to date from a total of 845,083 confirmed positive cases with 144,830 from the Eastern Cape. There have been 758,373 recoveries.
With 242,902 confirmed cases, Gauteng has the highest number of infections nationwide.
