Thanks for help in tough times

Centre needs beanbag chairs for children

TICKLED PINK: Duram Smart Paints and Burmeisters are just two of the sponsors who are partnering with the GO! & Express for their Mandela Day initiative at Canaan Care Centre Picture: WENDY KRETSCHMANN WENDY KRETSCHMANN

What would we do without support and contributions particularly in these very difficult times when everyone, individuals and business alike, have been affected by Covid-19?

So, the fact that people are reaching out despite this makes the contributions received towards Canaan Care Centre’s Adopt-A-Room initiative so heart-warming to see.

The bedroom which the GO! & Express have adopted is for two young girls who have low cognitive abilities and though it is our hope to decorate their room around Mandela Day, it is anticipated that we will need to move the date to one later in the month due to the current Level 4 lockdown.

Our Team will be enhancing the room by painting and decorating it with items we will provide and also with donations that we have been blessed to receive.

These donations include paint sponsored by Duram Smart Paint as arranged by Burmeisters who, themselves have donated paintbrushes, a paint roller and paint tray. They also did the paint tinting in a beautiful “Tickled Pink” shade.

A private donor has knitted 4x gorgeous little teddy bears while SE Bookkeeping has donated 2x handmade quilts for the girls.

As a result of a recent appeal on our Facebook page, Karen Field donated 2x single bed duvet inners in her private capacity and Tubs Lingham from Pot O’Curry has made a financial contribution which will be used to purchase other items needed.

However, we are still on the hunt for 2x beanbags which are not just for decoration as some cerebral palsy sufferers lack the capability to sit on standard chairs so beanbags are much more suitable for their needs.

Ideally the bean bags need to be pleather or leather due to the durability of these materials as they will be used regularly.

If you are able to assist with the bean bags or if you have any other contribution that you would like to make towards this initiative, please contact Wendy Kretschmann to arrange for the collection or delivery of the items.

Canaan Care Centre’s Adopt-A-Room project forms part of our drive to create awareness of cerebral palsy through the Fit for Logan Challenge where we also aim to raise funds towards 3-year old Logan Bartle’s existing and future medical expenses.

Bartle is benefitting greatly from his attendance at the school.

To sponsor any of the Fit for Logan Challenge participants for their weight loss, please contact them telephonically, on WhatsApp or by e-mail or by click on this link

The GO! & Express is the sole print media sponsor of the Fit for Logan Challenge.
