Can of Worms SA to perform for Canaan

Over the past 28 weeks, we’ve brought you news about the Fit for Logan (FFL) Challenge and how it relates to Logan Bartle, Cerebral Palsy and Canaan Care Centre.

This week we bring you something unconnected to the FFL Challenge and yet still extremely relevant as it relates to Canaan Care Centre.

Can of Worms SA will be presenting their award-winning National Arts Festival show “Out of the Can” at the Guild Theatre for 3 performances only this coming weekend and part of the proceeds will be shared with Canaan.

“The collaboration with Canaan Care Centres is close to the hearts of all at Can of Worms and we appeal to East Londoners to open their hearts and support this event,” says founding member and drummer Steve Meise.

Meise has close ties to Canaan as he attends weekly music therapy and enrichment sessions at the Centre’s Bunker’s Hill premises.

“Out of the Can” showcases the band’s original songs and relates a story of personal journey and growth.

Highly relatable and family-friendly, the talented and vibrant show is sure to have you up and out of your seats as you move to the beat of their unusual and eclectic sound.

The band’s music styles feature afro pop, reggae, dub, funk, rock and world music which accompany the vocals and narration by band member Chido.

We still welcome contributions towards the Fit for Logan Challenge, and also encourage you to support these shows as they bring financial support to this deserving beneficiary.

Performances start at 7pm on Friday October 1 and Saturday October 2 and the band will also be performing at 3pm on Saturday afternoon to allow for those who prefer not to go out at night.

Tickets cost R120 each and can be purchased from Computicket (Out of the Can) or at the Guild which observes COVID protocols including no mask, no entry.
