Having spent more than 40 years in the industry, Bruce has proven himself to be an all-around country performer and has built a steady fan base over the years.
“I am very excited to be performing in East London.
“Before Covid-19, I used to perform here every second year. The audiences were always so enthusiastic and always showed great support for my shows.
“I’ve been in the industry many years, and the reception I’ve received from East London and Gqberha has always been generous,” said Bruce.
Bruce has released 15 albums to date and has played all the instruments on some of them. He has also hosted a popular television programme called Sing Country for five years.
“Many of the great musicians that I’ve looked up to and performed alongside have passed over the last couple of years.
“I have had my fair share of hospital visits and operations. I just want to enjoy performing while I still can,” he said.
He will be joined on stage by international country musician Andrew Dawson, as well as local artists such as Ballroom Blitz, Montana Lane, Tanya K and fellow country singer, Maureen Nel.
Nel, who is also the organiser of the event, says that having Bruce back on East London stages is a privilege.
“We’ve known each other for more than 40 years, from back when we did many shows together here in East London and surrounds.
“Having Bruce performing back in East London after a long absence is indeed a privilege, as he is one of the foremost country music legends that SA has produced.
“Aside from his incredible talent and showmanship, he has also played a major role in promoting country music in SA with his long-running TV programme, Sing Country.
“I am extremely excited that we have this opportunity to host this phenomenal performer again, as he is extremely busy.
“We are very honoured that he was able to juggle his schedule to come and entertain his East London fans,” said Nel.
Tickets for the show can be pre-booked at a discounted price of R120 by calling 061-160-5493.
Tickets will cost the full price of R140 at the door on the day.
Pre-bookings will close on Tuesday, March 21, and thereafter, tickets will only be available to purchase at the door.
