Popular stage performer Nataniël Le Roux will be bringing his solo act, Nataniël in Concert, to the Guild Theatre on September 17, and the Go! & Express, in collaboration with the Guild Theatre, is giving away two sets of double tickets to the value of R290 each.
The talented singer, songwriter, author and all-round entertainer is preparing for a fun, fantasy-filled show, complete with colourful and stylish costumes, humour and music, accompanied by pianist Charl Du Plessis.
Known for being unapologetically flamboyant, Le Roux has managed to stay true to his craft and is excited to bring his show to East London audiences once again.
“I don’t remember the last time I was in East London, but I know it was before the pandemic. People have changed, the country has changed.
“The most important thing about my career though is that audiences will never see me repeat a show.
“I tell stories, I sing original songs and old songs that I try to make new, and I invest in designer costumes. Those are the three things that people can expect from my show. There will be lots of humour, fantasy, and fun,” said Le Roux.
With more than 6,000 performances, 79 stage productions, 17 albums, 17 books and 36 years of experience under his belt, the Makhanda-born entertainer has cemented himself as a legend in South African entertainment.
The star, who recently celebrated his 60th birthday, is adamant he does not consider himself a comedian. “I do not do comedy. The moment you say comedy, you trip yourself. When somebody describes themselves as funny, he sets up an expectation and by default he is not funny.
“I tell stories, and the way I tell the stories or what is in the stories, people will find funny and then it’s a bonus and I am grateful, but if you say you’re a comedian, you are in trouble,” said Le Roux.
