This week we chat to Tayla Venter about her printing business, Beneath The Bark.
Q: What services do you offer?
A: I personalise everything. From printing onto shirts, baby grows and glasses, to printing on mugs and acrylic plaques. I also make pallet crafts, furniture and more. I also make hampers.
Q: When did your business start? What inspired you to start this business venture?
A: I started my business in August 2020. I always felt the need to work for myself and be an entrepreneur.
Q: What experience does one need to be able to do your work?
A: I am self-taught, and continue to learn new things to expand and improve my business.
Q: How many people do you currently work with?
A: I currently work on my own, but I do get help with bigger projects.
Q: What satisfaction do you get out of doing the work that you do?
A: I like the joy I feel when I see what the end product looks like and the feedback from the happy clients.
Q: What do you think makes your business stand out from other similar businesses in the area?
A: I always push and persevere with the design or product until I have a happy client.
Q: Who would you say is your target market?
A: My target market is people of all ages. I even make personalised items for babies.
Q: What are some of the goals that you are working towards?
A: I want to expand my business and, one day, get bigger and better machinery.
Q: What advice do you have for anyone interested in starting their own business?
A: Believe in yourself, start small, and never give up. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” — Philippians 4:3.This is my go-to verse when I feel like I can’t do it anymore and I want to give up. That verse is my inspiration.
