What products do you offer?
The Ultra Cookie Co has a wide variety of gourmet cookies and cookie dough. The Toffee Apple Factory specialises in toffee apples and The Snack Co makes snack packs.
What inspired you to start your business venture?
I started The Ultra Cookie Co in 2021. I’ve always loved to bake and am always in the kitchen.
What experience/training do you think is necessary for this line of work?
I am self-taught and learn as I go. I don’t think you need any professional experience, you just have to be patient.
How do you come up with your recipes?
I take inspiration from Pinterest, and tweak recipes as I go to give them my own little twist.
How many people do you currently work with?
I am the only one in the business and do everything with the help of my boyfriend.
What satisfaction do you get out of doing the work you do?
I love it when I get feedback from my clients saying they love the products, it brings me so much joy.
What do you think makes your business stand out from other similar businesses in the area?
I am still a student and work long hours through the night to get orders done. I care about every order that goes out and make sure they are all perfect.
Who is your target market?
The Ultra Cookie Co’s gourmet cookies cater to coffee shops and people who have events, the gourmet cookies just bring that extra edge. The cookie dough is for everyone who just likes to eat something sweet. The Toffee Apple Factory is more for parties, the toffee apples just make the table look nice and they taste delicious. The Snack Co. is aimed at moms who want cute little snacks for their kids for school.
What are some of the goals you are working towards?
I want to have my own little space where I can bake all day, every day.
What advice do you have for anyone interested in starting their own business?
It is not easy. There will be days that you feel like nothing is going right but just hang in there, it will all be worth it.
