GENRE: Animation, family, adventure
Migration is a true definition of a family film. It is the perfect blend of laughter, heart, and visual brilliance that makes it a must-watch for animation movie lovers of all ages.
In this fun movie, a family of ducks decides to leave the safety of a New England pond for an adventurous trip to Jamaica.
However, their well-laid plans quickly go awry when they get lost and wind up in New York City. The experience soon inspires them to expand their horizons, open themselves up to new friends, and accomplish more than they ever thought possible.
The casting is filled with familiar voices such as Kumail Nanjiani, Elizabeth Banks, Keegan-Michael Key and Awkwafina. Each of the stars brings their own personality to their character and their talents blend in a simple yet entertaining way.
Visually, Migration is very colourful and the designs of the different birds and ducks are realistic while somehow remaining expressive in a child-like manner.
None of the humans in the animation have speaking lines, except for one singer who delivers an interesting rendition of Survivor by Destiny’s Child.
This is a simple, enjoyable film to watch with the family, or even by yourself. Children will enjoy the funny shenanigans that the ducks find themselves in. Adults will love the family relations between the ducks and their general themes.
Often, we find that animated films are either targeted at young children and provide no entertainment for adults, or the animations would have adult themes that are inappropriate for children, but Migration has drama, heartfelt and funny moments right through the film, that the entire family can relate to.
Migration is available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
