Lilyfontein presents ‘Annie Jr — the Musical’ to showcase pupils’ talent

Lilyfontein School, well-known for its adventurous spirit, is set to delight the East London community with a heartwarming production of Annie Jr — the Musical.

This showcase, featuring a cast of 50 pupils from grades 4 to 7, is the culmination of months of hard work and dedication.

Directed by  Wendy Human, this production aims to spotlight pupils who may not always excel in academics or sports but find their true talents on the stage.

Auditions were held earlier this year in February, with rehearsals kicking off in the second term to bring this Hard Knock Life story to life.

Human, with the support of Lilyfontein’s musical department and talented parents, has tirelessly worked to put on a great show, while also highlighting the value of creative opportunities for pupils. Her hope is to provide a platform where pupils with artistic talents can explore and shine, allowing them to experience the thrill of performing on stage at Lilyfontein.

Taking on the role of the iconic Annie is grade 6 pupil, Sophia Viaene, while other lead roles include Jade Impey (grade 7) as Grace Farrell, Daniel Taylor (grade 7) as Oliver Warbucks, and Courtney Darlington (grade 6) as the unforgettable Miss Hannigan.

Performances of Annie Jr will be held on Thursday October 10 and Friday October 11 at Lilyfontein School.

Tickets are available through WebTickets.

Be sure to support these young performers as they bring this fun, witty production to life and show that there’s more than one way to shine at Lilyfontein.
