Hudson Park’s girls’ water polo teams excel

Hudson Park High School’s girls’ water polo teams put on a strong performance at the annual Clarendon High School for Girls Stayers’ Water Polo Tournament, held from October 4-6.

Both the U15A team and the first team delivered impressive results against tough competition.

The U15A team had an outstanding run, winning five consecutive matches, including victories over Clarendon’s U15B (4-0), DSG (2-0), and Collegiate School for Girls (7-3).

In the quarterfinals, they defeated Pearson High School 5-2. However, their tournament run ended in the semifinals with a narrow 3-2 loss to Clarendon.

The team bounced back to secure third place by beating DSG 2-1. Caylin Mackenzie, their goalkeeper, received her third consecutive “goalkeeper of the tournament” award.

The first team also had a remarkable tournament. After victories over St Cyprian’s (10-8) and an invitational team (15-6), they faced stiff competition, losing to Clarendon (9-5) and Pearson (10-8 in a penalty shootout).

In the semifinal, Hudson Park avenged their earlier loss, defeating Clarendon in a thrilling penalty shootout, 9-8. They went on to win the final against Pearson High School with a convincing 10-7 victory, claiming the tournament title. Kara Batting earned “attacker of the tournament” honours.

Hudson Park’s teams showcased resilience and skill, cementing their status as top competitors.
