Congratulations to Merrifield College 1st team waterpolo boys and girls, who participated in the Oakhill Waterfront Chukka Festival this past weekend from February 14-16 in Knysna.
The Merrifield U19 Girls delivered a strong performance securing four impressive wins, including dominant victories over Pinelands and Camps Bay. While they faced tough losses against Westford and Somerset College, their narrow win against Bloemhof and a draw with Fish Hoek highlight their resilience.
The Merrifield U19 Boys had an outstanding tournament, going unbeaten with five wins and one draw, demonstrating both attacking strength and defensive solidity. Their emphatic victories, particularly against Parklands and Pinelands, showcase their dominance, while the close contest against Camps Bay proved their ability to handle pressure.
Besides the great results in the water, Merrifield was awarded the Sportsmanship award for the festival. A special mention should be made of Chris Eva as well, who was named goalkeeper of the tournament.
