What services do you offer?

Our services include custom makeup looks for weddings, special occasions, soft glam and everyday glam. We sell quality premium wigs and hair bundles, customise wigs, wig bleaching, sew-ins and wig labour, trimming, installations as well as providing wig care services.

How and when did you decide to start your beauty business?

It started as a side-hustle during my university days. I sold hair units and did make up looks for content creation. I decided to turn my side hustle into a 9-5 business due to unemployment after graduation.

What inspired your passion for beauty, makeup, and wigs?

It can only be my friends who always complemented me whenever I did a makeup, they would insist that I do theirs as well and they would pay for my services. From there, I started making extra cash by selling hair and makeup.

Do you run your business alone, or do you have a team?

I am working solo.

How has the public responded to your business?

It goes without saying that “umntu ngumntu ngabantu” (a person is a person because of people). Without the support and referrals, I wouldn’t be here.

What are the factors to consider when choosing a wig?

Hair type is important. You have to choose between synthetic hair, human hair, raw hair or human blend. You also have to assess the hair durability, shine and softness. Lastly, you have to consider your budget. Set a price range and balance it with the quality.

What challenges have you encountered in your business?

As a self-taught makeup artist, I have to work harder to establish trust with clients. The beauty industry is constantly evolving, so I need to stay informed about the latest techniques and products. Sourcing high-quality wigs and hair bundles can be unpredictable, and managing inventory levels is crucial. Managing client expectations can be challenging.

What are your future goals?

I want to expand product line, enhance my online presence, collaborate with influencers, share my expertise through hands-on training sessions, open a boutique or salon develop a product line.

What advice do you have for someone who wants to start their own beauty business?

Do it. Start now. There is space for everyone in the industry.
