Hudson Park High School’s first netball team ended their holidays on a high note by claiming the title at the prestigious 2025 Collegiate Netball Festival in Gqeberha this past weekend.
The three-day tournament, hosted by Collegiate Girls’ High School from July 17-19, saw Hudson face some of the country’s toughest school sides. Despite an early 18-15 loss to Reddam House, the team bounced back with wins against McLachlan, Collegiate, and Wykeham.
Friday saw the Hudson girls dominate, thrashing Kingsridge 29–3 and beating Herschel Girls convincingly. After a narrow loss to Nico Malan, the team showed grit in Saturday’s semifinal edging out Nico Malan 19–17.
The final against hosts Collegiate Girls’ High was a nail-biting affair, ending 20–20 in regular time. Hudson sealed the win 24–23 in sudden death, clinching the gold medal and the tournament title.
Hudson Park now shifts focus to their next challenge as they prepare to host Clarendon High School and Selborne College this coming weekend.
In a statement to GO!&Express, the school said: “We are immensely proud of our netball team for clinching the gold medal and claiming the title of festival champions.”
