Clarendon scores big in chess tourney

 

 

 

Clarendon High School for Girls celebrated outstanding success at the BC Open 2025, with two pupils delivering impressive performances on the chessboard.

Individual results:

Viha Beecum achieved a remarkable second place in the Under 16 division.

Megan Dove secured second place in the U20 division, rounding off a strong showing for the school.

Chess teacher Hayley Lottering expressed her pride in her pupils’ achievements: ”I’m incredibly proud of Megan and Viha for being selected to represent SA at the Chess Commonwealth Games in Malaysia, one of the highest honours in our sport.

“Megan’s additional selection for Zimbabwe and Viha’s achievement in the U16 category at such a young age highlight their dedication, discipline, and passion.”
