The KuGompo City padel community turned out in full force for the highly successful Night Padel Tournament, held from Friday to Sunday, with players and spectators enjoying three unforgettable days of top-class competition, thrilling matches and an electric atmosphere.
Hosted at Beacon Bay Padel Park, the tournament attracted some of the region’s finest players, all eager to compete for top honours in what proved to be one of the most exciting local padel events of the year.
The tournament reached its climax on Sunday evening with a spectacular final that had supporters on the edge of their seats from start to finish. In a high-quality and fiercely contested encounter, Ryan Little and Nikolai Hensberg emerged as champions, claiming the prestigious Gingerbomb Winners Trophy together with the R5,000 first prize.
Little and Hensberg had to dig deep against a determined Luke Groep and Ashton Reddy pairing in a thrilling final that showcased the very best of padel.
Both teams produced outstanding shot-making, incredible defensive play and moments of brilliance. In the end, Little and Hensberg held their nerve to secure victory and bring an exceptional weekend of padel to a fitting conclusion.
Throughout the three days, the atmosphere was extraordinary.
Spectators attended in large numbers every evening, creating an energetic and vibrant environment that reflected the remarkable growth of padel in KuGompo.
The overall standard of play was exceptionally high. Players displayed impressive levels of skill, determination and sportsmanship, producing numerous entertaining encounters and memorable moments. From dramatic comeback victories to nail-biting tie-breaks, the tournament delivered non-stop action and highlighted the rapidly improving standard of local padel.
Tournament organiser Veeran Naidoo expressed his heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the event.

Naidoo further emphasised that the tournament’s success demonstrated the tremendous potential for the continued growth of padel in the region.

Looking ahead, the local padel calendar remains packed with exciting events.
The Royal Padel World Cup is scheduled to take place on July 17 and 18, followed by the Royal Padel Over-40s League, which gets underway on July 27.
The season will then continue with the much-anticipated Border Icons Charity Mixed Doubles Tournament on September 5, promising even more exciting action for players and spectators.
Following yet another memorable and highly successful tournament, the future of padel in the city continues to look brighter than ever, with the sport showing no signs of slowing down.
