A Night with the Stars’ promises family entertainment

The Jo Jackson Dance Company (JJDC) is preparing to deliver its biggest production yet with A Night with the Stars – Dance Awards 2026, set to light up the Guild Theatre this weekend.

The production promises a glamorous red-carpet experience, complete with high-energy performances, breathtaking choreography and dazzling costumes.

“This year’s production is our biggest and most spectacular yet,” Jo Jackson said.

“Audiences can expect a true awards-night atmosphere that celebrates the talent, passion and dedication of our dancers. It’s not just a dance show – it’s an unforgettable entertainment experience for the whole family.”

She told the Go! 120 dancers were expected to take centre stage and dazzle the crowds – ranging from first-time performers to experienced senior dancers.

The production will also feature guest performances by En Pointe School of Ballet and the Stirling Primary Senior Choir, adding a dynamic blend of dance and vocal talent.

Jackson said the Dance Awards 2026 theme was inspired by a desire to celebrate every dancer as a star.

“Dance is about more than trophies and competition. It’s about commitment, resilience, creativity and growth.

“This theme allows us to honour every student while giving them the chance to experience the glamour of an awards ceremony,” Jackson said.

Adding to the excitement will be a live performance by South African music sensation Lee Cole, while former international model, fashion designer and entrepreneur Deryn Vogel will judge the evening’s Best Dressed competition on the red carpet.

Beyond the glamour, Jackson said productions like these play an important role in developing young performers.

“Performing on a professional stage builds confidence, discipline, teamwork and resilience – qualities that extend far beyond dance.

“We are passionate about giving young people in East London the opportunity to shine and create lifelong memories.”

Performances will take place on Friday at 7pm, and Saturday at 2pm and 7.30pm.

Tickets cost R250 for reserved seating and are available through Webtickets. With strong community interest expected, organisers are encouraging patrons to book early. Whether you’re a dance enthusiast or simply looking for a memorable night out, A Night with the Stars – Dance Awards 2026 promises to be one of KuGompo City’s entertainment highlights, celebrating the stars of today and tomorrow.
