THE biking community of East London are preparing to bless vulnerable and impoverished children across our city this Christmas but need your help to do it.
The 20th annual Toy Run takes place on November 27 where hundreds of children will enjoy a fun day of games, eats, toys, entertainment and spoils.
Toy Run president Chantelle Walker said: “We are now asking our community businesses to stand with us to make this year that much better for the children. Sponsorships and donations in the form of various items will be much appreciated. Monetary donations are of great importance too as we use all funds for the party and the children.”
They request donations of stationery, toiletries, sports equipment and toys.
“There are between 350 and 500 children, who benefit from the Toy Run… Some of these children have been abandoned and/or come from abused homes… The children that are invited to the Toy Run need to have some fun, be spoiled for a day, feel some love, run wild and just be carefree,” Walker said.
This year’s event, to be held at Hams Sports Club, includes a barber shop for the boys, a beauty salon for the girls, a kiddies tattoo studio (rub on tattoos), jumping castles, sports and a visit from Father Christmas to deliver gifts.
Donations can be dropped off at Amalinda SUPERSPAR, Gonubie SUPERSPAR, Nahoon SUPERSPAR, Spargs SUPERSPAR, Greenfields SPAR, Denray’s SPAR in Cambridge and OK Foods in Cambridge or alternatively you can contact Walker on 084-645-0530 to collect.
