‘I am truly happy with her service and I hope people from different professions will learn from this’
AN EAST London woman says she has been left speechless by the kindness and care of a nursing sister at Little Life Clinic in Southernwood.
Buyiswa Qondi recently took her five- month-old granddaughter to the clinic on a day set aside for premature babies.
While nurse Desiree Schreiber was helping with the registration of patients, she noticed that the baby was in need of medical care.
She then took Qondi and the baby to Life St Dominic’s Hospital with her own car so they could consult with a doctor.
“When we got there, she waited with us,” Qondi said.
“She was very helpful and patient.
“Fortunately for us, what had alarmed Desiree was resolved, but during the whole time she was with us and I was just overwhelmed. She was so kind. I could not believe there are still people who go the extra mile to assist those in need.
“I am truly happy with her service and I hope people from different professions will learn from this,” she said.
Life Healthcare regional manager, Bruce Janssens said the purpose of the clinic was to offer new mothers advice and guidance after they return home from hospital.
“The care shown by sister Schreiber for the grandmother and the baby is exactly what we expect from our nurses at the clinic and in our hospitals every day,” Janssens said.
“I am proud that we are living our values and taking care of our patients in such a special way. Thank you sister Schreiber for loving your job and for making your patients’ lives better,” he said.
