“FOREVER young” Border golfers and local companies raised R50000 for the East London Child and Youth Care Centre (ELCYCC) by participating in the annual Algoa Cares Charity Golf Day.
“Thanks to the golfers and sponsors who brought out the kids in themselves by taking part in our annual charity golf day, Algoa Cares [Algoa FM’s outreach initiative] is able to help ELCYCC extend its Early Childhood Development Centre,” Algoa FM marketing manager Toinette Koumpan said.
The money will be used to extend the centre so that it can accommodate up to 20 children at a time from both the ELCYCC and the community, said Larne Robus, social worker and fundraiser for the children’s charity. At present, the centre has space for 12 children.
Algoa FM operations director, Alfie Jay, handed over the cheque on November 18 at the ELCYCC.
