WORDS NEVER FAIL: Clarendon High School pupil Caitlin Laing has been placed first in the National SACEE English Language Challenge over the past four years. She obtained second place in Grade 6 in 2012. This year she achieved 98%; last year, 93%; in 2014, 96% and in 2013, 95%. Clarendon is very proud of Caitlin's record of achievements in this language challenge and wish to congratulate her. Here she is pictured with the head of English at the school, Carol Felton.

ARTISTIC EXCELLENCE: Congratulations at Sarah Drinkrow who won the artist of the year award at Sharon's Art School's annual prize-giving recently.

SHINING BRIGHT: Gonubie Primary pupil Erin Clarke won a host of top awards at the school's annual prize-giving recently. Among many other trophies, she won the prestigious Gonubie Lions Vitae Discaemus Award, as well as the Award for coming second in the Eastern Cape in Grade 7 in the World Knowledge Olympiad.

STAR PERFORMERS: Hoërskool Grens Grade 10 pupils Sherine van Zyl and Marilé Smit participated in the annual AKTV Spelathon and ended first and second in the Eastern Cape in the category Afrikaans Home Language Grade 10. Both progressed to the national AKTV spelling olympiad in Johannesburg with Smit ending fourth and Van Zyl seventh in South Africa. Some of the activities where Stirling pupils achieved included: academics, water polo, jazz band, rugby, dance, music, hockey, swimming, synchronised swimming, surf lifesaving, canoeing, culture, horse-riding, karate, biathle and lazer run

BRIGHT STAR: Congratulations to Grade 7 pupil Sambesiwe Nanto of Aqua Vista Primary School who qualified for the full Allan Gray Bursary to attend Selborne College next year. He has been a dedicated pupil and served as a prefect this year. He is also a keen member of the senior marimba band. He has achieved academically, winning first place in English, Afrikaans, maths, natural sciences and technology this year. He was placed first in the grade with an average of 80.22%
