Start off your year with nite race

Get rid of the cobwebs with popular run

IF you have running or walking as part of your New Year’s resolutions or have put on some extra weight over the Christmas period, consider taking part in tomorrow’s PWC Nite Race.

The popular night run is the first road race of the year and a chance to get rid of the cobwebs.

Starting from Old Selbornian Club on Friday 13th at 6pm, the race offers a 5km fun run for those over the age of 8 years and a 10km run for those over the age of 15.

The first 1200 entrants to the 10km race will receive a moisture management t-shirt and participants wearing their PwC Nite Race shirt during the race stand a chance to win a R1 000 spot prize.

HIT THE ROAD : It is time to get back into the swing of things with the ever-popular PwC Nite Race taking place tomorrow

The 5km participants are not forgotten and the first 1000 entrants to cross the finish line will each receive a nifty handout,” said Jan Laduschagne, director at PWC and also commette member of Old Selbornian Road Runners.

The 10km race will be timed for the first time, making use of electronic timing chips. Race times will be reflected in the race results in recognition of your efforts. There will be an attendance draw with another R1 000 up for grabs at the prize-giving ceremony

The 5km fun run takes runners on a loop through Nahoon while the 10km run will go the traditional scenic route, with a portion of the run on Nahoon Beach. Water points for both runs will provide runners with the opportunity to hydrate and catch a breather.

Entries and registration takes place at Old Selbornian Club today from 5.15pm -7pm and Friday 13th of January 2017 from 3:30pm – 5:45pm. Entry fees are R40 for the 5km and R90 for the 10km (R20 for a temp licence number). Registration requirements are ID number, contact details and entry fee.
