
THE Rock and Surf Super Pro League (RASSPL) Border Blacktips will be hosting their eighth and final league competition on Saturday at the picturesque Double Mouth a few kilometres west of Morgan Bay.
As always, this rock and surf angling competition is strictly catch and release.
There will be two angler registration options for this competition with the first being held today from 5pm at Chelsea Square B&B, in Selborne and the second, on the morning of the competition at Double Mouth Caravan Park from 4.30am.
“Anyone can enter any of the Border Blacktips events and competitions; there is no need to be a member of any club. Any age group and skill level is most welcome,” Border Blacktips spokesman Shane Smit said.
“Once you register for any RASSPL event you are issued a unique angler number which will be your number for life and by registering you automatically become an affiliated member of the Border Blacktips team.”
Smit said rules for the competitions are simple and conservation orientated.

Fish caught must be placed in their unique live bucket with a photo taken. The fish must then be placed on the specially designed weigh mat with scorecard visible on mat with a photo taken and then last but not least, a photo must be taken with the lucky angler holding the fish.
“These three vital pictures are our three-photo rule and must strictly be adhered to. The live bucket costs R50 and the tough weigh mat costs R100. Both can be purchased at registration.”
Boundaries for this competition are between the . “Lines in” time is 6am and scorecards must be handed in to the scorers by no later than 3.30pm at the Double Mouth Caravan Park.
Prize-giving will start once all cards are captured and processed.
Entry for this competition is R150 for visitors and R50 for annual paid members.
“It is important to remember that everyone is welcome, so get yourself to a registration point either Thursday [today] or on Saturday and experience one of the most fun and addictive angling competitions there is with a grand total of R47000 worth of prizes on offer,” Smit added.
