Top acts at school show

STARRY NIGHT: Lynette Nel and Kwanele Gingqi will join the Cambridge School Choir as guest artists for the school’s ‘Songs from the Heart’ concert this weekend. The concert will also feature Richard Lento’s Junior Buffalo City Metropolitan Orchestra

CAMBRIDGE Primary School’s music department will be hosting their Songs from the Heart concert on Saturday at 3pm.

Taking part will be the school choir, Richard Lento’s Junior Buffalo City Metropolitan Orchestra and special guest artists Kwanele Gingqi and Lynette Nel. Gingqi has an impressive record of achievements that includes being appointed assistant conductor of the Walter Sisulu University Choir in 2007 and of the Buffalo City College Choir in 2008. He has also conducted the East London Police Choir.

He received vocal training in Cape Town and the UK and has achievement certificates for dedicated chorister, best choir conductor and soloist in the Amanzi Mzansi Opera Competition.

He has had various operatic roles and has worked with the Gauteng Opera Company.

Lynette is well-known to East Londoners particularly for producing It’s Your Show annually for senior citizens for the past 27 years.

The programme includes many well-loved songs – from The Exodus Song to Leonard Cohen’s Halleluja.

At R30 per ticket this is a concert not to be missed! Booking is at the school office or get tickets at the door on Saturday afternoon.
