In total, 100 pupils participated in the Spelling Bee.

Each school participated with teams of Grade 2 and Grade 3 pupils.

The theme for the day was all things “space” and pupils were launched into an intergalactic battle of the spellers.

Teams had to work through five rounds of intense wordplay to put their spelling skills to the test.

Stirling team is the bees knees

The event was a success owing to the hard work and effort of organisers, George Randell’s English Department head and chairwoman of the Border branch of the SACEE, Verushka Packery and Lilyfontein teacher and SACEE committee member, Wendy King.

“The event enthralled pupils and thanks must go to everyone involved,” Packery said.

Clarendon Prep came first with Stirling Primary and Hudson Park Primary in second and third position respectively.
