
POPULAR East London dance group and winner of the Ultimate Performer 2017 took part in this year’s Battle of the Giants competition at the
The Jo Jackson Dance Company’s “Checkmate” group battled some of the best dance groups in the country, coming third in the World Trial Circuit (WTC) category – the highest level in the competition.
The dance company’s other members also performed admirably against some of South Africa’s best dancers, dance group founder Jo Jackson said.
Some of the dance group placings were:
Nikita and Jasmine, third in the hip hop couples.
Jayson Jegels and Iviwe Bam, third in WTC hip hop couples.
Justin Jooste, second in championship modern.
Emma Van Heerden, seventh in modern solo.
Emma Van Heerden and Emma Victor, fourth in modern couples.
The company came sixth in amateur small group.
Jayson Jegels, eighth in hip hop solo WTC.
Nikita Naidoo, third in hip hop solo.
The company came fourth in jazz small group.
Tyla Fegan and Kayla Jade Whelan, fifth in hip hop duos amateur.
The dance company placed third in formation hip hop WTC.
Iviwe Bam, third in championship hip hop solo.
Kayla Swanapoel, fifth in jazz solo.
Caitlyn Young, fifth in championship slowdance.
