Border Blacktips gear up for Rock, Surf event

ON August 5 the Border Blacktips RASSPL (Rock and Surf Super Pro League) team will be hosting their third rock n surf angling competition of the season in the Kayser’s Beach area.

As usual, there will be loads of cash prizes as well as many other awesome prizes up for grabs. “Once again, we will have our famous R3000 cash giveaway with R1000 cash going to the heaviest barbel, blacktail and sandshark,” Border Blacktips spokesman, Shane Smit said.

“Anyone can enter any RASSPL event, no strings attached so get to Bilimoria tackle stores and Quality baits in the SBDC to purchase your competition tickets now.

“Remember that we are strictly a 100% catch and release club,” he said.

This season Border Blacktips RASSPL have had two out of the eight competitions already, and have so far caught and released 310 fish consisting of 27 different species with a combined total weight of 258.7kg. Each one was released safely to swim another day.

Registration for this Kaysers Beach competition will be with the club secretary, Sharon Miles on August 4 from 2pm at Chelsea Square B&B in Selborne. Alternatively, you can register on the morning of the competition at the Kaysers Beach Social Club from 5.30am with team manager, John Frost. Anglers wanting to become a paid member can also pay their R400 subs at both of these registrations but this is unfortunately your last chance to become a paid member this season.

Competition starts at 7am with all scorecards to be handed in by no later than 3.30pm to the scorers at the Kaysers Beach Social Club. The fishing area for this competition is from Chulumna River mouth to Ncera River.

Prize-giving will follow as soon as all scores are finalised, normally commencing at around 4pm.

Tickets are R100 for visitors, R50 for members and free for those under the age of 14.
