● Merrifield School presents Unstoppable, a Merrifield 20th Anniversary Celebration at the Guild Theatre at 6pm. The show tells the story of Lily, an inquisitive Grade 1 pupil on the first day of school, who grows up in front of the audience’s eyes. The more she is antagonised by her older brother, Matt, the more frantic she becomes to find her talent – to discover who she is and where she belongs. This show celebrates Merrifield’s rich cultural diversity with dancing, singing, acting, marimba bands and musical instruments. It showcases the talents of pupils, ranging from Grade 1 to Grade 12, in a heart-warming story that is sure to appeal to audiences of all ages. ●The University of the Third Age (U3A) caters to people of a so-called “mature age”, from about 50 to 90, who are still eager for more knowledge and a have a zest for listening to cultural and motivational talks. U3A Meet on the second Thursday of each month at 9.30am. The cost is R10 per visitor and R5 for members. This is for the monthly general meeting, after which there is a speaker, followed by tea/coffee and biscuits. On the third Thursday of each month, there is a current affairs meeting with a speaker at 10am. Both meetings are held at the St Andrews Croquet Club hall in Bunkers Hill. ●The Nahoon Estuary Nature Reserve is a must for those who love beautiful places, river views, a mangrove swamp and forest walks. Bird enthusiasts will enjoy watching blue duikers and birds at the birdbaths and eating seed.
