THE darlings of South African Indie Folk, Digby and the Lullaby are to visit East London for the first time on September 1.
Grahamstown Festival Standard Bank Ovation Award winners, Digby and the Lullaby are hitting the road with a brand new show. The pair played a final five-day stint in Bahrain at the royal family’s private recording studio before taking time off to write new material and spend time with their baby boy. They’ll be playing one night only at The Legends Showcase Venue.
“We’re really excited to be playing in East London, we’ve always loved visiting and now the stars have aligned and we’re set to perform at an amazing venue called The Legends Showcase,” Darren Peens, who is one half of the band, said.
From Cape Town to New York, Rouchelle Hubsch (on piano and lead vocals) and Peens (on guitar and backing vocals) have cast their indie-folk spell on audiences everywhere. “We took a break so that I could bring our little Maddy into the world but we’re very excited to be back on stage, the break has been so refreshing,” Rouchelle said with an smile..
Graham Ward – drummer for Paul McCartney, Tom Jones and Ray Charles – puts it best however, when he says: “The joy of hearing these two stays with you long after you leave, miss something else, don’t miss Digby and the Lullaby. Trust me.”
He added: “You will be hooked”.
Seasoned Algoa FM DJ, Lance du Plessis, said: “Haunting, achingly beautiful – at once melancholic and uplifting – music to grab your ears and your heart ….highly recommended.”
This “highly recommended show starts at 8pm and tickets are R120 per person. Chicken a la king will also be on sale at R50 per person.
