All systems go for the Surfers

THE 44th Discovery Surfers Challenge on Saturday February 24 starts at Kwelegha Mouth and ends at Nahoon.
Border Surfing chairman Vaughn Meecham said they had about 4000 entries last year. in 2017.

“This year we have a number of celebrities, including former Comrades winner Shaun Meiklejohn, Alan Robb who has won the Comrades four times, Myrette Brink, an SA cross country and steeplechase winner.”

Local participants include Hanlie Botha, local ambassador of the Surfers who has won three times and previous winner Makhaya Masumpa who has participated 20 times.

The race is over 17.5km.

“Juniors will run 5km. The shortened version for all runners and walkers will be 10km, starting at Gonubie Hotel and paddlers will start from Kwelegha.”

Entries are online or at Sportsman’s Warehouse.

Late entries may be made at registration at the Nutting Hall in Stirling from February 22 to 24.
