SCI-FI and fantasy enthusiast, former Beaconhurst Primary School teacher, Lorri-Ann Preston,44, has authored a book Thabo, the Space Dude which young children from nine to 12 years old, can relate to.
Preston realised that there was a gap in literature needs in this age group, who have an interest in funny, and adventurous stories they can relate to. Preston dedicated a year of her time to write the book. , Thabo, The Space Dude.
The story is told from an 11-year-old boy’s perspective. He loves his PlayStation and his two best friends, and is horrified of leaving them to live on Mars.
“When I was a teacher, I realised that the stories I read to my pupils were by authors from overseas. They did enjoy the stories, but some of them could not relate to the characters,” Preston said.
The official book launch will be at the Beacon Bay Library next Thursday at 6pm. , there will be snacks and other goodies and all are welcome.
The book will be on sale for R120, and is available on Amazon and Smart Hearing.
