THE Ezase Kasi Fun 7km run at Ekoneni Butchery at NU1 in Mdantsane at over the weekend raised funds for the needy.
The event was organised by the non-profit organisation, Project Khulisanani (PK).
Co-founder of the organisation, Bohlale Buzani, said the event had gone off better than they had anticipated with 39 runners participating in different age groups.
“Many community members have realised and understood the importance of fitness and health, so they decided to join our PK Free Fitness Bootcamp that takes place at NU1 Rugby stadium from Monday to Thursday at 5pm.”
She said funds were being raised for the “PK Hub” , a programme that will take place at Bulumko Junior Primary School.
Buzani said the hub would have a learning centre with facilitators that would assist children with their homework, assignments and projects. “They will also be focusing on English reading and writing skills.
“The PK Hub is also going to have a sports and recreational side, whereby children will be able to partake in sporting and cultural activities such as soccer, rugby, table tennis, swimming, chess etc.”
She said the organisation wanted to provide children with meals as well.
