The South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP) has embarked on a youth activation programme and will be visiting Walter Sisulu University’s East London and Butterworth campuses tomorrow morning.
The programme aims to transform the Construction industry by helping the youth make informed decisions about their career paths within the Project and Construction Management sector.
As a joint initiative between the HDI Youth Marketeers and the SACPCMP, this activation targets SACPCMP accredited universities in five provinces and started out with an activation at the University of Pretoria last week.
The activation involves a lecture take over with the HDI team taking over to create awareness of SACPCMP and the various career possibilities within the field.
Professional actors will conduct the activation through a fun-filled demonstration, using a ‘Games of Thrones theme’ to capture their young audiences.
The activation will also include an information session and students will be encouraged to enrol on the SACPCMP Student Chapter for further engagement. Information snippets will also be broadcast on campus radio stations.
“This initiative targets the youth at our accredited institutions with a view to engage them further on our Youth Portal so that they are better informed about various opportunities and career paths. The SACPCMP is taking decisive steps to transform the industry and a good starting point is the youth of our country,” said Registrar of the SACPCMP, Nomvula Rakolote.
The activation at WSU East London campus will take place in Lecture room CF3 starting at 8 am. At the Butterworth campus, the activation will take place in the Great Hall, starting at 11 am.
