Thousands of people from all over the world were glued to their television screens on this day in 1953 as a 25-year old Elizabeth was pronounced Queen of England in Westminster Abbey. Guests to the event included  then-US Secretary of State General George Marshall as well as representatives from across the Commonwealth. While Elizabeth’s coronation was the fourth of the 20th Century, it was the first to ever be televised.
