RISING Sun Foundation is a non-profit organisation that was established two years ago by Lumka Cube, 23, and Khayakazi Tapile, 23.
The organisation is based in Port Elizabeth, but also has a branch in East London which donated clothes and toys to a children’s home in Beacon Bay, East London on Saturday.
Foundation secretary Vuyokazi Zilwana, said their goal was to improve the lives of the needy and vulnerable. so that their circumstances do not hinder their chances to succeed.
“We have over the years pioneered programmes that include: providing motivational seminars and donating sanitary towels for needy girls in township-based schools,” Zilwana said. “We still have programmes in the pipeline that include career exhibitions and helping matriculants to apply for tertiary education. Our dream is to expand countrywide.” and offer a helping hand to those in need.”
Zilwana said they decided to do this good deed because their aim was to advocate for the poor, and believe that one’s future shouldn’t be determined by where you come from. your where they come from doesn’t and shouldn’t determine their future.
“This was our first donation in East London and we are planning on expanding nationwide so that we make a difference where we can,” she said.
The foundation has about 40 members with representatives in Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth, and East London.
