Ryan Meyers, who was reported missing yesterday, was found this morning by
a police officer who was going off duty from his night shift.
This followed an urgent appeal from the SAPS for public assistance after a car was stolen in Cambridge with the 34-year-old man, who has Down Syndrome, still inside.
According to police spokesperson Captain Mali Govender, Meyer’s was found near the Cofimvaba hospital by a police officer.
“He stopped his vehicle and noticed that the person resembled Ryan Meyer who was reported missing. He immediately proceeded to the Cofimvaba hospital where staff on duty attended to him,” said Mali.
Mali added that the police officer immediately contacted his station commander and informed him after dropping Meyer at the police station.
On arrival at the hospital, the station commander met a very happy Ryan who continued giving hugs.
The management of the SAPS express their sincere appreciation to the community for their involvement in tracing Meyers.
