Reach for a Dream is celebrating three decades of bringing hope, joy and healing to the children who have been fighting life-threatening illnesses.
Dennis Collins Jewellers will be sponsoring a Dream Chocolate Breakfast that has been hosted for the past nine years on October 20 at the 2 Swans outside East London.
“ Peter van Kets, East London’s own adventurer, explorer and conservationist, will be telling us all about his latest adventure. Apart from the very yummy chocolate treats, Dennis Collins have always given a beautiful gift to all the guests who have helped raise funds for the little Dreamers,” East London Reach for a Dream manager, Lwando Mpeta said.
Mpeta said the process of dream fulfilment began with a visit to the child at the facility where they are being cared for. Once a doctor has verified that the child meets the criteria for dream fulfilment, the dream assessment process begins.
“Firstly the nature of the child’s dream is determined through a session of play-therapy when we try to learn as much about the child to ensure that dream fulfilment is tailored to the child’s preference, personality and interests. Then the child identifies three dreams and our ability to fulfil dreams depends largely on funds and resources available.”
