Rape kit donations to help victims

The Union of Jewish Women and the Rotary Club of Gately partnered to make a difference to Masimanyane Women’s Right International by donating 99 rape kits.

“These parcels will go to rape survivors who go to Cecilia Makiwane Hospital, with the rape survivors ranging from the ages of one to 70,” said Masimanyane executive director Lesley-Ann Foster said.

Masimanyane also has a dedicated office in King William’s Town that focuses on HIV/Aids counselling, testing and community education services.

Union of Jewish Women chairperson Michelle Rosenthal said they had have partnered with Masimanyane for eight years, while Rotary Club of Gatley had has been involved for four years. “We believe in making a difference in people’one’s life,s lives, and we are glad that we have partnered with Rotary Club of Gately, as they are the ones that assist with the funds,” said Rosenthal said.

“This makes a huge difference to the people who are in need. It’s will be a good cause for vulnerable women and children who are rape survivors,” said Stephen Keet of Rotary Club of Gately’s Stephen Keet said.
