AW Barnes grade 7 pupil Sibulele Ndatsha, 14, will be sharing the stage at the Guild Theatre on Saturday December 8 with the Rockets and Rhema, a band from Cape Town that has been entertaining audiences across SA.
The opportunity came after Ndatsha won the Peggy Nesta Singstar Competition on October 17, walking away with R500.
“I’m excited and nervous at the same time,” she said.
The musical sensation, who wants to pursue a career in music, added that she put the money she had won towards preparations for her matric farewell.
AW Barnes principal Geoff Gamiet said the school was very proud of Ndatsha’s achievement.
“We are very proud of her and I see a musical future for her. This opportunity is part of developing her esteem and harnessing her musical skills. We educate our pupils holistically, giving them all the opportunities and we are honoured for the recognition,” AW Barnes principal Geoff Gamiet said. Barnbhe said.
The Peggy Nesta Foundation is an NPO that aids vulnerable children and the elderly in East London. Foundation CEO Valda van Heerden said: “Sibulele is the outcome of touching the lives of our children, one child at a time. We wish her well and may this be the turning point in her life – to take hold of all her gifts and talents and make the best of it.”
The show will take place at the Guild Theatre and starts at 7pm.
