A 79-year-old man who matriculated back in 1966 has registered at the North West University in Vanderbijl Park with the hope of fulfilling his dream to be a teacher.

In a statement published by the university, Jacob Seboko said he felt he “had too much time” on his hands following the passing of his wife 10 years ago and decided to put his time to good use while ensuring that he keeps mentally fit.

“I have so much time on my hands and by the grace of God, I am still blessed with good health,” said Seboko.

“I have always had the desire to teach and if I am still able, I would love to be a teacher. I have a head for figures and have a knack for accounting and economics, both subjects that are in great need of qualified teachers,” he added.
