East London Pet Pals’ Sanctuary will host a Doggie Walk at Tea in the Trees on Sunday March 31 to raise funds for the organisation.
“The event takes place once a year, but this is our first time hosting at Tea in the Trees which we know the animal lovers in the East London community will support,” said EL Pet Pals member Melany Leach said.
She said the event’s main purpose was to raise funds that will help them buy basic essentials. aid with basic essentials which they need.
“The main challenge is the daily running costs, which include enormous amounts of food to feed about round 200 cats and dogs; costly medications for many of the older, permanent residents; our spay and neuter programmes, and the challenge of covering staff salaries and rental.
“Our main focus, purpose, and passion is to find wonderful, permanent, and loving homes for our rescued dogs and cats.
“Everyone can help spread the message of pet adoption to family, friends and co-workers,” Leach said.
She said only through the adoption of orphaned pets are they able to free up room to rescue more animals.
New pet adoption fees include sterilisation which ensures that pet adoption is ethical and environmentally sustainable.
“We humbly urge all who are saddened by the suffering of animals, to please consider setting up a planned monthly donation – no matter how small – to assist us in our life-saving mission of love”, Leach said.
