Hurricanes a Sevens success

The Mdantsane Hurricane Rugby Football Club travelled to Komani on Saturday to participate in the Queen’s College Sevens Twizza Series.

The Hurricanes is made up of young rugby enthusiasts from disadvantaged backgrounds, but they are not letting their circumstances stop then form playing the sport.

A majority of the players are from Mzomhle High School in Mdantsane.

The Hurricanes’ under-15 team blitzed through their games, remaining undefeated until the final.

“In the U15 group stages, we played four matches where we won three, but lost in the final,” said Hurricanes founder and coach Xhanti Msauli.

“The U17 team played six games, acquired three victories and three defeats and emerged runners-up in the plate final. The boys are showing their capabilities and talents, and I am very proud of them as they are representing Mdantsane quite well.”

“This weekend, we will be participating in another Twizza Sevens Series that will take place at Hudson Park High School,” the coach said.
