Some East London residents started off their Saturday morning at a pace by taking part in at the Beacon Bay Retail Park Breakfast Run.

The 5km family event brought the community together to enjoy a fun run/walk event in support of Round Table No1.

In the end, R20,000 was raised.

Event co-ordinator Tracy Mackay said the run was currently in its seventh year and proving a success.

“We had about 1,000 participants, which is not as good as 2018’s. last year’s. All the tenants sponsored us with some prizes and we had 100 goodie bags for the first 100 people who finished the race,” said Mackay.

Round Table No1 Border chairman Ryan Baisley said the organisation will utilise the proceeds by completing a project in Sceneary Park.

“We are currently renovating a children’s home in Scenery Park that was in a very horrible terrible state. With the donations we are getting, we will be buying some bedding and other essentials,” Baisley said.

“We will also be hosting a beerfest in October next month to raise more funds.”
