The Childhood Cancer Foundation SA (Choc) will host its new annual event, Flip Flop Day, to commemorate International Childhood Cancer Day (ICCD) on February 14.

The aim is for the community to free their toes and purchase stickers for R10 each to fundraise for the nonprofit organisation, while raising awareness about the disease in children.

“The journey that children and teenagers with cancer face is in no way light-hearted, but creating an annual event like Flip Flop Day that raises money towards childhood cancer awareness is definitely a time to be joyous and needs a fullyloaded feel-good factor,” Choc CEO Carl Queiros said.

Services the organisation provide are:

• Accommodation

• Transport

• Emotional support

• Practical support

• Awareness and education

• Advocacy and collaboration

• Additional programmes

The campaign is also supported by PNA Stationers countrywide, where the stickers are also available.

EC regional manager Debbie Kleinenberg said Flip Flop Day keyrings were available as well at R20 online or at the Choc office.

Choc SA celebrated 40 years in 2019 (‘Pupils show hearts for Choc kids’, GO! & Express February 21 2019).
