Karting bumper action

Indications are that a large field of competitors will be taking part in the second round of the Border Karting Championship to be held on Saturday.

The day also incorporates Round One of the EP and Border Regional Championship and several Eastern Province (EP) teams will be pitting their skills against Borders finest.

In the 50cc Bambino Class Traiton Boshoff will have his hands full as EP’s Caleb Moss and Jack Moore will be looking for the win, but Traiton has shown good pace of late.

The Micro Max Class saw Lincoln Randall deliver a polished performance last time out. He will be challenged by local lads, Tyler Stephen and Scotty Heideman, and then EP’s Josh Moore and Aiden Green will be flying the flag for their province.

The 4 stroke Clubmans Class is a locally developed entry class and will again see Derek Pratt and Leeroy Randall do battle for the honours. Bryce Choudree will be hoping that his mechanical gremlins have all been sorted so that he can challenge for the win.

In the Masters Class Greg Thompson, Charl van Heerden, Andre Shrier and Ashley Mylie will no doubt entertain in another closely fought battle.

125cc Clubmans

Seniors: Brady Choudree had things his way last time out but Jacques du Preez and Bryce Choudree both had mechanical issues which hampered their progress and will hopefully be a major threat this time around

Masters: Geoff Stephen will be challenged by Leeroy Randall and Jono Stephen, with Neil Stephen hoping to make the top 3 places an all family affair. Cherne Marais missed round one but will have the knives out on Saturday

Juniors: Queenstown’s Kyle Heideman and Timothy Ball will once again be doing battle for honours

The ultra quick DD2 brigade will have their first outing of the year, where reigning champion Geoff Stephen will be supported by team mates Jono Stephen and Jacques du Preez, making an impressive debut. PEs Brett Brito, James Moore and Justin Walton will do battle on behalf of EP.

The GBB Fitment Centre sponsored 4 Stroke Academy continues doing great work by providing opportunities for newcomers to experience the thrills of racing.

The popular corporate endurance S2R Corporate 4 Stroke Series will be kicking off the 2020 season with a one and a half hour endurance event in the reverse direction, straight after the days racing. This is a series where teams are made up of up to 4 drivers. There are 3 compulsory pitstops where driver changes take place.

Teams like TKY Power Products, Timberland, Strictly Racing and King Fire will be out once again. Anyone interested in participating in this fun event in the future is encouraged to pop down to the track to check it out or chat to Geoff Stephen for more details on the day.

Racing starts at about 11h00. Entrance is R10 per person and a canteen will be available.
