A total of 34 people have died from the novel coronavirus as the positive cases climb to 2,506.
Six of the seven deaths occurred in Kwa-Zulu Natal, with one in Gauteng. On Tuesday, positive COVID-19 cases stood at 2,415.
Health minister Dr Zweli Mkhize released the figures on Wednesday.
The Eastern Cape’s cases have surged to 199 from 174 on Tuesday, an increase of 25.
The total number of tests conducted to date is 90 515.
