Entries are officially open for the 2021 Investec Great Kei Trek, a three-day cycling race that takes participants on a 180km circuit around Morgan Bay, Kei Mouth and the surrounding areas.
The race will take place from April 30 until May 2.
“Placing our customer relationships at the centre of everything we do has become even more important during the pandemic,” said Investec head of corporate and institutional banking Lourens van Rensburg.
“We were looking for a smaller niche event, which allowed us the opportunity to build on these relationships in a more personal and customised way. The Investec Great Kei Trek ticked all of these boxes and allows us this flexibility in one of the most beautiful parts of South Africa.”
Event owner Rob Jackson said they were excited to bring on Investec as their new title sponsor.
“Over the past year we have refined the routes to ensure riders can really experience the best of this area.
“We are working hand in hand with a number of farmers and land owners in the area and have partnered with two small local entrepreneurs who are from the area and understand the best undiscovered routes,” Jackson said.
Participants have three package deals to choose from. The Economy Package is self-catering and aimed at locals or riders who wish to make use of one of the many B&B’s or house rentals in the area.
The Premium Economy and First Class packages provide riders with rooms at either the Morgan Bay Hotel or the Mitford Hotel, both on the beachfront and close to the race village.
For riders coming in from out of town, LuxLiner will be providing transport shuttles to and from the EL Airport to the start in Morgan Bay.
“Rides like this are never possible without the fantastic co-operation and support of the local landowners and businesses in the area and, of course, all our valued sponsors.
“We look forward to welcoming everyone in April,” said Jackson.
