The Madness Comedy Festival has been postponed to the 21st and 22nd of October 2022. East London audiences are in for a special treat on Friday and Saturday.

The line-up consists of popular comedians including Simphiwe Shembe, Liya Nqaba, Simunye Churchboy, Vusi Oulik, Charles Mthethwa, Khanyiso Kenqa, and Bhodloza Madala.

Vusi Oulik, popularly known for his online videos, says he is excited to bring all his comedic personae to life on stage.

“I’m bringing my comedy to the stage. I have some characters that people know me for and I will be bringing them to stage through comedy.

“I enjoy coming back to the Madness Comedy Festival because it is a great chance for me to experience other comedians and their skills and other jokes,” said Oulik.

Nqaba, another comedian loved by Eastern Cape audiences, is also set to return to the Madness Comedy stage.

“I enjoy being on the Madness Comedy stage because it is a big platform for upcoming comics to rub shoulders with big comics.

“I’ve always wanted to perform on big stages and Madness always has that opportunity for me.

“Meeting our lovely crowds is also something I look forward to,” Nqaba said.

Mthethwa is also excited about returning to the festival and promises to bring an array of jokes for all to enjoy.

Shembe shared some advice for upcoming comedians that has helped him in his career.

“Keep writing and attend as many open mic nights as you can.

“The money is not only in the talent, but it is also in the name. So do what you can to make a name for yourself.”

Khanyiso Kenqa, who is also in the lineup, said: “Madness Comedy is one of the few comedy brands that put comedy on a pedestal.

“It celebrates the craft and creates a beautiful night out for comedy lovers and it is also a good networking opportunity for the comedians as well.”

The show will be held at The Venue at Hemmingways on Friday, October 21 and Saturday, October 22. The doors will open at 7pm. Tickets are available at Computicket for R200 or at the door for R300.

  1. Well I did go to the venue and there was definitely no comedy festival going on there unless it started after 9 as I hung around Hemingway’s for almost 2 hrs. Silly me. I don’t know how our tickets will be refunded but that would be very nice as I bought 2 for me a a friend who had a birthday last weekend and drove all the way from Engcobo for a show that never happened
