Minister’s bursary in honour of father goes to top pupils

Last year, former minister of public administration Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi visited John Bisseker Secondary School to launch a R10,000 bursary for a deserving pupil, in honour of her late father, Arthur Fraser.

The school selected three pupils from the matric class of 2022 who achieved top marks in maths, physics and life sciences.

The bursary was presented to Yolisa Cengani, who earned a distinction in life sciences, Sisipho Ndevu, who achieved the highest maths mark, and Tabo Malusi, the top physics pupil.

Last year, John Bisseker teacher Brenda Appollis said the bursary recipient must be a hard-working and diligent pupil who wanted to study further after completing matric.

The money will help towards registration fees, transport and books.

Malusi will be studying computer science at the University of the Western Cape and Ndevu will be studying psychology at the University of Johannesburg.

An elated Ndevu said: “This money came just at the right time because I was struggling to get registration money to study.

“Now, thankfully, I will be able to pay my registration fees and register.”
