Genre: Action, Comedy
Kevin Hart has built a career around being the funny sidekick to the big action hero and has now found himself wishing to play the role of the leading man in an action movie.
Die Hart is a film where Hart plays himself as a comedian who is trying to change his career path and become more of a serious actor, despite public opinions saying he is only good enough to play the comic relief character.
Hart then decides to go to a school where he can learn to be an action hero under the guidance of Ron Wilcox (John Travolta) and fellow action-wannabe Jordan King (Nathalie Emmanuel).
Watching this movie feels no different from watching any other movie performance by Hart.
He seems to play different versions of the same character in every movie he stars in, and this one is no exception.
If anything, this film is nothing more than a money-making scheme by Hart as he is also currently on a comedy tour.
Die Hart was first released as a mini-series in 2020. Hart and his team decided to put those episodes together and release them as a movie.
On the one hand, it can be seen as a genius marketing move, while on the other hand, it can be seen as rather lazy.
If he had simply released the movie on a streaming site, that would have been fine, but this film has also been given a cinematic release, which means people are expected to spend money on a movie ticket to watch something that was released years before and can easily be found online.
If you’re a die-hard Hart fan, this one is for you. If not, feel free to give this one a miss.
Die Hart is available to watch on Amazon Prime or at the cinema
