This year, Rob Pollock Photography celebrates 40 years as a trusted local brand.
What started in 1983 as a small photographic studio has since grown into a well-known photo lab, studio, and copy and printing business beloved across the province.
Founder Rob Pollock has been described as an astute businessman with a skill for adapting to the changing needs of the artistic, technological, and commercial environments.
Marlene Neumann, a respected photographer and photography school head, says Pollock has played a huge role in shaping her own style of photography.
“I have known Rob for 38 years, both personally and professionally.
“I studied under him as a student.
“He’s the one who introduced me to black and white photography, which has now become my field of photography.
“He has always been strict and professional with his work, but I’ve noticed that he’s become quite mellow and soft in his approach to his photography in recent years,” Neumann said.
Local athlete and photography studio owner Jean-Paul Veaudry cites Pollock as a business and professional inspiration.
“I had a very valuable 10 years working there, where I learned many commercial aspects of photography and owned my own photography studio.
“Rob has always had a classic approach in his photography style, particularly in portraiture, some of which I’ve inherited to create my own,” Veaudry said.
As a contribution to the community, Rob Pollock Photography has been offering well-attended evening photographic courses to teach aspiring photographers the basics of DSLR photography.
At the release of her debut poetry collection Pollock’s daughter, Micharn, credits her father and late mother, Jan, as her true inspirations.
“I am so lucky to have been given the artistic inspiration and encouragement that my parents gave me.
“My father is a photographer who taught me everything that I know about the beauty of light and angles,” Micharn said.
